FAQ

How are the services provided by Columbus Speech & Hearing Center different from tutoring?

The services provided at CSHC are individualized to your child and involve skill building and closing gaps in essential skills by the use of multisensory techniques such as Lindamood Bell and Orton Gillingham, whereas tutoring is content based assistance that helps students prepare for specific assignments and often involves teaching study habits and survival strategies. Often children need both.

Are your services beneficial for someone with a diagnosis of dyslexia?

Yes. We provide services to children and adults who have a diagnosis of dyslexia.

Does health insurance cover treatment of written language disorders?

Perhaps. If your child’s reading problem is based on phonological or language weaknesses, treatment may be covered. Our billing department will be glad to work with you to determine if insurance benefits are available.
